Job summary We aredelighted to be able to advertise a full time permanent Band 8a Pelvic Health Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner post at Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust.
Thishighly specialist post will involve working across all sites in the Trust.We arelooking for a highly motivated and hard working Band 8a physiotherapist to jointly leadand develop the Pelvic Health Physiotherapy service.The rolewill assume that of advanced practitioner and joint clinical lead for the PelvicHealth service, having overall responsibility for the clinicaldelivery of physiotherapy in partnership with other members of the team(service lead, advanced practitioner, team leader and lead clinicians) across the trust within thisspecialist area.
This will also include supervisory management of the more junior physiotherapy staff working in the pelvic health physiotherapy service.We at MidYorkshire Teaching NHS Trust provide an extensive physiotherapy service for our pelvichealth patients and we are committed to supporting you to expandyour knowledge in this specialism for the benefits of the patient and theservice.
Main duties of the job Todeliver pelvic health clinics for patients referred from GPs, communityservices and consultants.
This will include the assessment of new patients todetermine the diagnosis and management of patients.
This will include complexhistory taking, ordering of relevant investigations.Toplan and deliver treatment programmes for complex female and male patients withpelvic floor dysfunction, including bladder, bowel and pelvic pain symptoms.This may include Non-Medical Prescribing (NMP) and interpretation of diagnosticresults.Toplan and refer onwards to secondary consultant care.WithinMDT clinics to discuss surgical management, listing for surgery includingdiscussion with the patient regarding surgical risks and information of thesurgical procedure in line with detailed competency frameworks.Totriage and treat complex pelvic health patients that require rehabilitation.Toensure therapy management is integrated and rehabilitation potential ismaximised for all patients within the service.
This will include up to dateevidence based practice and may include research.Provideleadership, support and clinical guidance to colleagues; provide support,supervision and expert opinion to other members of the senior therapy team, inthe assessment and management of complex multifactorial conditions.Tomaintain excellent communication and links with urogynaecology, urology andcolorectal teams to ensure an efficient and effective patient care pathway.

Communicate effectively with patients and carersto maximise rehabilitation potential and ensure understanding of condition.Communication skills of persuasion, motivation and explanation to encouragepatients to undertake their treatment programme.Use verbal and non-verbal communication skills togain informed consent with patients where there will often be barriers toeffective communication loss of hearing, altered perception, expressive orreceptive dysphasia, pain, fear.Assess capacity, gain validinformed consent and have the ability to work within a legal framework withpatients who may lack capacity to consent to treatment.To be the lead therapist at MDTmeetings, case conferences and to ensure therapeutic management of patients isintegrated and rehabilitation potential is maximised and is central to overallassessment, audit and objective evaluation of treatment / managementprogrammes.To refer patients onwards torelevant health care professionalsTo ensure robust clinicalgovernance for service speciality, through supervision, audit and best practicethrough pathway development and evidence base.To work extended hours andweekends as service requires within own speciality, including emergency work asper service business continuity plan.
