Job description Job responsibilities Youll provide a competent scrub provision, supporting the surgeon through the daily theatre list, anticipating any potential problems and resolving these.
At the end of the day, youll help clean down the theatre and in all you do, youll ensure the highest standards are met in terms of patient safety, clinical compliance and hygiene levels.Aside from providing Scrub services in the theatre you'll also spend a portion of your time performing admin-based tasks, to support the Theatre Manager.
This includes incident reporting and investigation, ensuring high standards are maintained in all areas of the theatre provision.The Deputy Theatre Manager will take the lead in ensuring all theatre staff are up-to-date with training and maintain a high level of competence in their practice.
They will support the Theatre Manager in development and implementation of internal training and mentorship programmes.
Person Specification Experience Essential Experience in other ophthalmic specialities, including oculoplastic procedures Knowledge of clinical practice and demonstratable knowledge of developments in Ophthalmology Previous line management experience Theatre training /substantive experience required.
Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council essential or HCPC Experience of and commitment to clinical audits Comfortable with Microsoft Office products and using computerised systems for data input/output and review.
Good organisation skills and the ability to multi-task.
Ability to support a multidisciplinary team and implement positive change.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Enjoys the routine and rhythm of a process driven environment.
Able to balance working independently with appropriate escalation.
Committed to delivery of consistently high standards of testing and administration.
Desirable Experience working at the level of a high band 6/7 or equivalent Knowledge and experience in dealing with variations to standard surgical procedure Experience and ability to act as senior support within the daily theatre team Qualifications Essential Degree in Nursing or Operating Department Practice
