Job summary We are looking for a either a Clinician with a professional registration ( Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist) or two years or more experience of working directly with children or adults with a learning disabilityto come and work within NELFT's Essex wide SET CAMHS Learning Disabilities team.
The team provides mental health services to children and young people with severe to profound learning disabilities who additionally may also have related complex developmental disorders often including an additional Autistic Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.
The team is based in Chelmsford and offers a specialist community based Mental Health service across Essex to children/ young people and their parents and professionals who care and support them at home and in all environments.
As a clinician you will be expected to be able to undertake skilled assessments and provide interventions to this client group and they systems that support them and their families, around their mental health issues.
The service provides the latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to children/ young people with severe to profound learning disabilities and their families experiencing emotional wellbeing and mental health difficulties, taking into account the individual circumstances of each individual, child and their system.
Main duties of the job You will have a background in Learning Disability or relevant experience of working with people with a learning Disability and their families.
You will need the skills to support the system around our children and young people who will have a severe to profound learning Disability and emotional/ mental health issues.
Driven by the principles underpinning the Thrive model with latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to children, young people and their families experiencing mental health difficulties.
As part of the multi-disciplinary team you will: Undertake school and community based assessments, delivering a range of interventions to children and young people with a Learning Disability Assess, plan, implement and evaluate all aspects of care including working/liaising with multi-disciplinary teams and other agencies.
Routinely measure clinical outcomes and deliver evidence-based interventions in line with the Thrive Model Promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people with learning disabilities and families in the community through clinical interventions Take part in consultation/training to support internal and external agencies regarding children with additional Neurodevelopmental diagnosis In return, you will receive training and development, supervision and developmental contact with other professional networks as appropriate.

About us Starting with NELFTNELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust.
All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment.
As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

About NELFTs SET CAMHS: NELFTs SET CAMHS is for anybody aged between 0-18, living in the Southend, Essex and Thurrock areas and is free at the point of entry.
Any young person experiencing emotional wellbeing or mental health problems.
Structure of NELFTs SET CAMHS: There are: a Childrens Single Point of Access (CSPA), seven Locality Teams, an Intensive Support Services, a specialist Eating Disorders Team and a specialist Learning Disability Team.
These are located across Southend, Essex and Thurrock.
What difficulties can be referred to the service?
Mood and anxiety disorders Behavioural and conduct disorders Emerging personality and attachment disorders Eating disorders Psychotic disorders Deliberate self-harm and suicidal ideation Substance misuse with co-existing mental health needs (dual diagnosis) Autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) - with co-occurring mental health needs where the focus is on the treatment of mental health needs.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) - with co-occurring mental health needs Neurodevelopmental disorders Prolonged bereavement problems All referrals to the service are assessed and then we use the Thrive model to offer the support that is needed for the young person, developed in line with the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance criteria (NICE) and based on a best practice model of treatment.
SET CAMHS: The aim of our SET CAMHS is to respond earlier to children and young peoples needs in order to help prevent, reduce or delay the need for more specialist interventions.
This transformation of children and young peoples mental health services has a clinical focus, integrated with local authorities to deliver a long term collaborative approach to planning and delivering services.
SET CAMHS focuses on the mental health and includes access to self-help tools and services based in schools and the community.
We are creating a modern service that fits with childrens lives in a way that best suits them.
Key new features include a Childrens Single Point of Access (CSPA) into the service, clear early signposting, and use of digital channels.
We are working collaboratively with HCRG (formerly Virgin care) when offering the 'Getting Help' aspect of the Thrive Model.
The service is driven by the principles underpinning the national CYP-IAPT programme (Children and Young Peoples Improving Access to Psychological Therapies); evidence based interventions, routine measurement of outcomes, access to high quality training and supervision for professionals and true co-production with children and young people.
Clinicians have toensure that a high quality, timely, accessible and evidence-based service is available to all children and young people who need it.
This means establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with wider social, health and voluntary services.
