Job overview The colorectal team are looking for a trainee band or experienced band nurse to join their highly regarded, innovative Pelvic Floor Team.
Contacting the department for an informal visit or initial conversation is essential when applying as this is a specialised role that will require role specific training.Trainee Specialist Nurse applicants would be working towards becoming a Senior Specialist Nurse in this developmental role and the key result areas outlined in the Band job description.
The role is supervised and clearly linked to competencies that require completion within a pre-arranged and designated time frame.
The focus will be on developing autonomous practice.
Demonstrated proficiency and successful completion of Accredited Scientific Practice (ASP) training programme will advance this role form Band as a Trainee Senior Specialist Nurse to a Band Senior Specialist Nurse.This role will have a specific focus on supporting patients with complex pelvic floor issues.
The role will also incorporate diagnostic testing of the ano-rectum.
Main duties of the job Provide exceptional patient care which is underpinned by evidence based practice and OUH valuesWork in partnership with the patient's family and friends to be actively involved in the caring process on behalf of the patientManage, direct and evaluate the care for a defined caseload of patientsCommunicate effective information to patients/relatives/carers and all members of the multidisciplinary team, making use of digital technology and telemed clinics as required.Demonstrate high standards of nursing care, reflecting the beliefs about professional practice and patient careDevelop and maintain highly specialist knowledge required relevant to the clinical areaUndertake the responsibilities associated with being a mentor and preceptorDemonstrably contribute towards the continuing development of professional practice in the department Conduct oneself in a professional manner and be a role model to others at all times commensurate with the Code (NMC )Work proactively to ensure every hospital visit meets the needs of the patient, ensuring effective communication with the patient/family and other agencies Working for our organisation Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest NHS teaching trusts in the country.
