We would like to recruit a registered social worker who holds a Mental Health Officer qualification to undertake occasional Mental Health Officer duties.
The successful candidate will predominantly undertake schedule 2 and 3 report assessments under the Adults with Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000, however there may also be opportunities to support with MHO standby for our Out of Hours Service and other MHO duties as appropriate.
This work will be on a casual basis with competitive rate paid per report, this position will ideally suit an MHO looking for flexible work.
While this is a casual contract, the successful candidate will be provided regular supervision and opportunity to attend regular MHO development sessions with the team.
Experience of working with people with mental disorder is essential, alongside good knowledge and recent experience of MHO statutory duties is required.
You will be experienced in working within the protective legislative framework and demonstrate practice that reflects the principles of the legislation governing MHO practice.
You will need to have excellent communication, assessment, analytical and co-ordination skills.
You will be committed to evidence-based practice that prioritise strong social work values.
You will be a qualified social worker, a DipSW/CQSW/CSS qualification or equivalent is essential, as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council and you will hold a post graduate certificate in Advanced Social Work Studies (Mental Health Officer Award).
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post and you will be expected to use Dumfries and Galloway Pool cars for any travelling required.
However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
