We are looking for a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner Nursing (Acute Paediatrics) to join our friendly Paediatric team caring for babies, children and young people aged 0-16 working across the Cilgerran Unit.
Providing opportunities to rotate in Paediatric Ambulatory Care Unit and General Paediatric Ward in Glangwili General Hospital.
The acute service for Paediatrics includes the 8 bed Paediatric Ambulatory Care unit for assessment and observation unit, 24 bedded inpatient children's ward, 3 high dependency care beds, as well as Oncology care, child and adolescent mental health services.
The post is based at Glangwili General Hospital and includes a day/night rotation.
The work is varied and offers opportunities to develop a broad range of specialised skills working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships.
Main duties of the job To provide an excellent service to meet the needs of children and families on the unit.
The post holder is expected to independently manage their own work and case load, undertaking tasks delegated by a registered nurse.Will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other ward/team members, contributing to and maintaining the ward/team philosophy.Exchanging information with patients and staff on the admission, transfer and discharge of patients both verbally and in written format.Liaising with clinics and other hospitals to generate appropriate follow up appointments.Actively participating in MDT meetings.Involving patients in the follow up procedure ensuring appointment is appropriate to their circumstances.Answering telephone queries in the appropriate manner.Conveying messages effectively.Supporting and comforting patients and colleagues in difficult and distressing circumstances.Always presents a positive image of oneself and the service.Communicate verbally, written or electronically via Myrddin systemMaintain adequate levels of stock, equipment and materials and facilities the efficient, effective use of resources.Take responsibility for own development and learning, ensuring engagement and participate in statutory, mandatory training and work-base learning opportunities in accordance with the health board policy and local training needs analysis.
