Job summary We are looking for anenthusiastic and experienced cardiographer to join our expanding and developingteam.
The ECG service at WAHT supports a range of patients over numerous clinics as part of a busy cardiology team offering 12 lead ECG, ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors to out patients and in patients alongside providing support for the wider Cardiopulmonary Department.
Main duties of the job Prepare,perform and interpret Electrocardiogramson all categories of patients andimmediately inform a senior member of staff or the relevant Physician of anyadverse abnormalities regarding the patient or Electrocardiogram.
As perdepartmental protocols.Set up andremove 24, 48 and 72 hour hour ambulatory monitors & event recorders on in and outpatients.
To give clear instructions to the patient in the use of the equipmentand how to complete a diary sheet.Regular cleaning and maintenance of the Cardiography equipment rooms and facilities in the Cardioulmonary department.

Job description Job responsibilities Inspect relevant equipment used and ensure compliancewith Health and Safety standards at all times.Visually and verbally risk-assess every patient priorto carrying out any clinical investigation.Prepare, perform and interpretElectrocardiogramson all categories of patients and immediately inform asenior member of staff or the relevant Physician of any adverse abnormalitiesregarding the patient or Electrocardiogram.
As per departmental protocols.Set up and remove 24 hour ambulatory monitors &event recorders on in and out patients.
To give clear instructions to thepatient in the use of the equipment and how to complete a 24 hour diary sheet.Participate in the teaching and training (to agreedNational standards) of junior members of staff within the department and otherMedical and Nursing personnel.Receive and report verbal and written communication,including responding to a bleep, answering the telephone, taking messages andkeeping records for the departmental database.Assist with maintaining daily records and statisticsof clinical activity.Perform minor maintenance and clean relevant recordingequipment.Undergo training when required to keep up to date withnew equipment and technology.Report any untoward events or uncertainties to asenior member of staffProduce technically satisfactory results in accordancewith National and Departmental standards.Adhere to all Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trustand departmental policies and procedures.Perform any other duties appropriate to the grade, asinstructed by the Head of Department.To attend Trust mandatory courses fire, manualhandling, Health and Safety coursesTo maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD)ResponsibilitiesTo be responsible for themaintenance, quality assurance and infection control of any equipment used inorder to maintain quality standardsTo produce technicallysatisfactory results in accordance with national and departmental protocols andstandardsTo report all untoward eventsor uncertainties to a senior grade Cardiac Physiologist or Head of DepartmentTo adhere to all WorcestershireAcute Hospitals NHS Trust and departmental policies and proceduresTo visually and verballyrisk-assess every patient prior to carrying out any clinical investigation onthe patientClerical DutiesTo carry out general clericaland administrative work, to include filing of all patient clinicalinvestigation reports carried out within the department, to maintain efficiencywithin the department when a copy of patient clinical reports are requestedTo liaise closely at all timeswith nursing, medical and paramedical staff that make use of the Cardiologyservice to ensure duties can be carried out effectively and efficientlyTo compile daily statisticalrecords of patient activityTo assist with the input ofclinical activity onto Oasis and the departmental database Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE pass (grade A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths Desirable SCST ECG qualification Experience Essential Previous experience within NHS healthcare environment Set up and removal of ECG electrodes Desirable Set up and removal of Ambulatory ECG and blood pressure monitors Knowledge and use of NHS patient booking systems
