Job summary **This is a pre nursing role** If you are a trained nurse/registered - please do not apply.We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic nursing associate to join our Starfish Ward.To apply for this role you must be on the NMC register as a nursing associate.Starfish Ward is a paediatric inpatient ward for 0-16 years.
Our patients may have acute/chronic conditions and we care for patients that require High Dependency intervention and level two shared care for oncology.The department can offer opportunities to learn and develop skills in crucial specialties.
We are therefore looking for someone with a broad range of experience, a flexible approach to working and the ability to work in a busy environment.
Main duties of the job Our vision is to embody in our hospitals the principles, values, and sense of service that created the NHS by providing consistently good, safe care in a friendly, listening and informative way, as and when people need and want it and always with dignity and respect.All staff will be given a robust induction programme.

Job description Job responsibilities The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan and across the fields of nursing; providing holistic and person centred care and support for patients of all ages and in a variety of settings.The Nursing Associate works independently under the leadership of Registered Nurses, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.Nursing Associates are equipped with the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and behaviours relevant to employment as a Nursing Associate, and according to their professional code of conduct (NMC, 2018).The following criteria identify the core components of the roles, responsibilities and accountabilities of nursing associates.
They identify what nursing associates can contribute to the health and wellbeing of patients and service users, and apply across all health and care settings.
Integral to all of these is the ability to communicate effectively, with sensitivity and compassion, and to manage relationships with patients, making reasonable adjustments where necessary.Where further, more specific requirements are required, these should be developed by the employer for inclusion in the job specification.
Person Specification Education and Qualifications Essential Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register Nursing Associate foundation degree/qualification Desirable Care Certificate.
Safeguarding children training Holds breastfeeding course certificate basic life support training Evidence of commitment to professional development Knowledge Essential Knowledge on safeguarding issue Knowledge on infection controls Knowledge on risk and keeping environment safe IT knowledge appropriate to the role Knowledge of when to seek advice and refer to a registered health or care professional.
Desirable Knowledge on Badgernet EPR Experience Essential Relevant nursing associate experience Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Desirable Worked in a hospital setting Experience of caring for sick infants.
Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information.
