Main duties of the job To work as a part of the operational Facilities Team to assist the Logistic Manager to coordinate and support the effective delivery of Logistic services, Patient and Non-Patient movement porter, Receipt and Distribution, Linen and Laundry, Postal Services at Pinderfields, Pontefract, and Dewsbury sites.
In liaison with Ward & Department Managers, the Assistant Team Leader will be required to exercise initiative and judgement to ensure the provision of an efficient, effective, quality front of house service that is supportive to the Ward/Department and courteous and caring to patients, visitors, and all service users.

Job description Job responsibilities The Assistant Team Leader will be required to identify and respond to user needs and to solve problems/complaints as and when they arise.
This will require effective liaison with other staff groups, and actively seek constructive feedback on service provision.
The Assistant team leaders role is multi-skilled and covers a range of services within facilities.
When rotating on to the Pontefract and Dewsbury sites the Assistant Team Leader will be working independently remote to the line manager-The Assistant Team Leader will have daily operational responsibility for training of the Supervisors, Porters/Linen assistants/Receipt and Distribution across the Pinderfields, Pontefract and Dewsbury hospitals ensuring all records are up to date.
Monitoring appraisals to ensure they are within date.To Provide the Logistic Manager with regular staff updates and monthly reports, financial and performance monthly.Manage staffing rotas and overtime to minimise the financial impact to the department.The Assistant Team Leader will carry out staff training in the skills necessary to complete their work.Complete risk assessments as required.Assist in the completion and implementation of work schedules and procedures as and when required.Managing team performance.Line Management responsibility for facilities staff.Site support responsibility for management of clinical and household waste generated by hospitals.Effective liaison with Logistic Managers, Supervisors and Facilities staff on each site across the range of Facilities Services.The Assistant Team Leader will carry out the sickness management as per the Mid Yorkshire Teaching NHS Trust sickness management policy.

Qualifications Essential Level 3 hygiene certificate.
IOSH Supervising Safely.
Desirable ECDL computer course, report writing.
ILM 3 Supervisory studies.
Experience Essential Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Good time management skills including ability to work to set deadlines.
Ability to work well as part of the team across all sites.
Ability to work flexibly, quickly, and accurately.
Previous Supervisory experience.
Desirable Experience of working with confidential material.
Experience in managing the portering service within the NHS.
Experience in managing the receipt and distribution service in the NHS.
Experience in manging the Linen and Laundry service in the NHS.
Knowledge and Awareness Essential Experience of managing sickness absence, grievances, disciplinary and capability cases.
Operational knowledge of Health & Safety at work Legislation.
Desirable Awareness of Health & Safety issues.
Awareness of Moving & Handling issues.
