Development & Support Analyst (It)

Role Purpose In this role, you will work closely with our IT team to develop, implement, and support Punch's business process applications.
You will be responsible for scoping, coding, and delivering applications while ensuring high-quality support for end-users.
Your role involves maintaining and optimizing code, addressing and resolving bugs, monitoring system performance, and responding to requests from the Development Manager.
Additionally, you will gather user feedback to enhance application functionality, prepare reports, and conduct development tests to ensure applications meet performance and reliability standards.
Accountabilitie Complete the entire development cycle, including design, unit testing, user sign-off, documentation, training, and review.
Ensure effective communication and management of delivery expectations with key stakeholders Regularly review and progress developments according to agreed timelines with stakeholders Advocate for a consistent approach to reporting and business process solutions, aligning with the broader Business and IT Strategy Drive continual improvement of applications, ensuring all delivered solutions achieve the intended cost benefits and added value Actively engage with Punch and broader business activities to ensure that all work and solutions are fit for purpose.
Proactively identify opportunities where IT can provide additional support and value Identify and propose improvements to existing processes and practices to deliver better solutions Take ownership of daily tasks, focusing on providing and implementing solutions for optimisation Confidently deliver on individual assignments and collaborate effectively within a team to achieve technical project goals Manage communication across all levels, ensuring a high-quality experience for both internal and external customers through clear and professional interactions Identify and pursue opportunities for personal development, proactively seeking ways to enhance skills and knowledge Fulfil your role with professionalism and efficiency, consistently meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality work Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and customers to deliver excellent customer service and optimise the processes supported by applications Collaborate with the wider IT team to ensure that services are robust and well-supported from both first and second-line perspectives Demonstrate flexibility in your approach, undertaking ad hoc analysis and projects as requested by the Development & IT Projects Manager, adapting to evolving requirements Person Specification – Technical Competencies/Professional Expertise A proactive and enthusiastic professional dedicated to delivering effective solutions that add clear value to the business Skilled in prioritising, planning, and organising workload and tasks Quick to learn new software and technologies Strong communicator with the ability to influence key stakeholders Capable of following instructions and working collaboratively within a team environment Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in English and Maths Proficient in email systems and Microsoft Office applications Developer Competencies Proficient in writing and debugging code, with experience in BPM software (e.g., Appian) and strong familiarity with SQL, VBA, or object-oriented programming.
Solid experience with SQL Server, including advanced query writing, schema design, and data manipulation.
Strong understanding of application and web development principles, with the ability to design and implement solutions based on these principles.
Capable of performing data analysis and troubleshooting, with a focus on identifying and resolving complex issues.
Good grasp of coding standards and best practices, with experience applying these principles in real-world scenarios.
Experience with software testing and debugging techniques, ensuring code quality and reliability through rigorous testing.
