Job summary This is a fantastic opportunity to be embedded into a family practice which serves a community of patients local to our area.
Your role will be to provide services within your competencies, including but not limited to, long term condition reviews, smears, immunisations as well as other healthcare duties such as ECG, phlebotomy and blood pressures when the service needs it.
Your skills will be developed and any further learning will be supported.
Main duties of the job Perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care, such as BP checks, ECG, BMI and lifestyle advice and Health ChecksUndertake NHS immunisation programmes and ensure vaccines are administrated under patient group directives or patient specific directionAdministration of prescribed medicines via oral, IM, SC routesCollection of specimens including venipuncture, swabs, urine cultureChronic disease management including monitoring and undertaking investigationsProvide general health promotion education, advice on national screening programs and refer patients to appropriate servicesComplete cervical screening testsComplete investigatory tests, such as Ambulatory BP monitoring, automated Dopplers and Spirometry, taking basic history and referring patients to relevant clinician for interpretation/ planning of careMaintain effective infection control measures in line with local guidelines and practice policyEnsure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and medication, including monthly stock takeOrdering and maintain stock within clinical roomsSupport QOF requirements, as well as other Local Commissioned Services and the PCN DesMaintain accurate record keeping using EMIS WebAttend practice meetingsComplete mandatory trainingAdhere to policies and protocols as listed in the Staff Handbook and contractThis list is not exhaustive and tasks may vary allowing the individual to work within their own competence and required remit of their role.

Person Specification Experience Essential Minimum of 1 year in Primary Care Experience of working in teams under appropriate supervision as part of a multi-disciplinary team Insight into how to evaluate own strengths and development needs, seeking advice where appropriate Experience of providing and receiving complex, sensitive information Qualifications Essential Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC Register with a Foundation Degree GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent (not entry level 2)
