About the Company:

An international law firm is looking for a Head of Regulatory Risk to join their team in London. This is a hybrid opportunity that offers considerable flexibility. The Head of Risk role is a high-profile position within the firm’s Office of the General Counsel (OGC), with responsibility for advising on regulatory compliance, leading risk management efforts, and supporting the firm's strategic objectives. The ideal candidate for this role should have extensive experience in regulatory risk & compliance within a law firm environment.


About the Role:

Key Responsibilities for the Head of Regulatory Risk, UKIME role:



  • Lead and manage the regulatory risk function across the UKME region.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective risk management framework for the region, ensuring robust governance and compliance systems are in place.
  • Work closely with the General Counsel to address sensitive legal and risk issues, including internal investigations and regulatory audits.
  • Ensure continuous monitoring of the regulatory environment and implement necessary changes to compliance and risk management policies.
  • Manage the firm’s risk register and regulatory risk log, identifying and addressing emerging risks.
  • Oversee regulatory reporting, including assisting the Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).
  • Lead efforts to promote a positive risk and compliance culture across the firm's offices in the UKIME region.
  • Coordinate with other teams such as AML, Conflicts, Finance, HR, and Business Acceptance to ensure seamless risk management practices.
  • Represent the firm in dealings with regulators and other external stakeholders, building and maintaining strong relationships.


Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience working in risk & compliance, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of UK and international regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven track record of leading risk management initiatives and handling complex compliance issues.
  • Strong expertise in general commercial contractual work.
