Head of Supply Chain


BioTalent are working with a London-based biopharmaceutical organisation who are looking for a Head of Supply Chain to join them.


We are looking for an experienced individual who has a background in managing Managers.


The Head of Supply Chain will be responsible for optimising the newly formed supply chain function; planning for future site activities and projects.


You will be working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and as such, they are looking for a forward-thinking and solution-oriented individual who can assess the strategic, long-term development of the function with the goal of delivering best-in-class service to a continuously evolving market.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the full supply chain function including material supply, warehousing and inventory management
  • Planning – budget, capacity and resource planning, using long-term strategic thinking to ensure the site is set up to function fluently with minimal impact and challenges
  • Lead on the implementation of SAP to support and optimize the planning process
  • Attend site planning meetings and provide contributions on supply chain activity and revenue impact (supported with trend and data analysis)
  • Provide input and expertise on future site development activities
  • Contribute to the global supply chain transformation
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders, using position to manage and influence decisions accordingly and in the best interests of the company
  • Provide direction and leadership to the supply chain department, empowering colleagues to take ownership of decisions, be confident in presenting ideas and collaborating with peers to achieve the desired outcome.


Key Requirements

  • Previous experience leading the supply chain function within a highly regulated environment
  • Experience of working within a manufacturing site would be advantageous
  • Experience working with an SLT in a large matrix organization and being able to challenge with confidence when necessary
  • Proficient in the use of SAP and other planning tools or software
  • Knowledge and experience with site planning and development and the supply chain/logistics impact associated with these
  • Extensive planning (capacity/resource), inventory (materials/cost) and warehouse management (3PL/inbound/outbound) experience
  • Able to competently navigate changing business demands and circumstances, offering effective and timely solutions
  • Possess a great level of commercial awareness and can offer significant contribution on cost and budget discussions in an accurate and professional manner
  • Able to lead by example and influence others
  • Keep abreast of the constantly evolving economical landscape and the impact on supply chain
