About us

One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we’re on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We’re looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.

What you'll do

Viasat, Inc. seeks an experienced professional to join its government and regulatory affairs group and drive its global licensing efforts. This successful candidate will play a key role in obtaining and managing the regulatory authorizations that facilitate Viasat’s provision of innovative services on a global scale.

The day-to-day

More specifically, the successful candidate will be able to:

  • Develop and implement global licensing strategy based on business unit needs and priorities, analysis of existing license assets, and regional team insights.
  • Serve as the principal internal and external point of contact for licensing and market access matters.
  • Manage complex global licensing projects and effectively track and communicate project status on a country-by-country basis.
  • Collaborate with other regulatory team members to identify and overcome application “blockers.”
  • Effectively partner closely with other Viasat teams (business, technical, legal, accounting, etc.) to obtain necessary inputs and facilitate internal review of relevant licensing materials.
  • Develop template application materials that effectively describe Viasat, its innovative service offerings, and the technical elements of relevant network assets.
  • Regularly meet with business teams to better understand their product/service roadmaps and deployment priorities, and provide feedback regarding licensing considerations that may facilitate or impede business plans.
  • Assist in the evaluation of national licensing requirements given Viasat’s planned network operations and other business activities.
  • Effectively collaborate with other team members and IT resources to maintain Viasat’s global licensing database.
  • Manage Viasat’s license portfolio and associated requirements to ensure that the company meets applicable compliance obligations in a timely manner.

What you'll need

  • Demonstrable experience in the field of government and regulatory affairs and with telecommunications-related licensing matters
  • Willingness and ability to operate in a team environment.
  • Ability to communicate fully, clearly, and effectively, both orally and in writing, with leadership and teammates.
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy, together with the ability to manage simultaneous projects.
  • Ability to take initiative and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced corporate environment.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

What will help you on the job

  • Juris Doctorate degree or equivalent.
