Job Title: Welfare Officer

Location: Wethersfield, Braintree

Salary: £28,000-£35,000

Hours: 48 hours per week, consisting of 12 hour day and night shifts - Day shift 07:00 - 19.00, Night shift 19.00 - 07:00

Contract Type: Permanent

Purpose of the Role:

The Welfare Officer at Wethersfield provides onsite advice and safeguarding support to Service Users, ensuring their wellbeing and safety.

Wethersfield’s primary role is to offer temporary, secure accommodation for Service Users.

Managing an assigned caseload, the Welfare Officer conducts room inspections, maintains accurate records, updates systems, and follows company procedures at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manage a caseload of Service Users (SUs) in Initial Accommodation.

* Direct SUs to doctors, shops, and support services as needed.

* Conduct visits, report incidents, and address SU issues or absconders.

* Ensure timely relocation of SUs by final payment dates.

* Arrange transport for SUs to accommodation or relocations.

* Maintain SU health and safety through regular checks.

* Manage a property portfolio, performing monthly inspections and reporting defects as needed

* Oversee property maintenance and address defects during inspections.

* Replace or repair items following inventory guidelines.

* Recommend SU relocations or property terminations for efficiency.

* Ensure properties meet Health and Safety standards.

* Manage stores in line with purchasing procedures.

Required Skills:

* Experience as a Welfare Officer or similar role.

* Awareness of diverse cultures and backgrounds.

* Empathetic, adaptable, and resilient.

* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

* Well-organised with effective planning abilities.

* Able to work independently and as part of a team.

* Full UK driving licence required.
