I am working with a leading software company who are currently experiencing rapid growth and a variety of exciting customer engagements across a variety of sectors, to support this they require a Lead DevOps Engineer who understand the automation, scaling and monitoring challenges in a SaaS (Software as a Service) product company and who is looking to take a lead role owning the technical design and delivery of those solutions

What you will be doing
This role will have you being the lead engineer in a growing DevOps team, their technology stack is Microsoft, and they use Azure as our hosting platform, so you will be an expert in these areas. You will be a key decision maker on the tools that are used for each DevOps requirement and will help the team establish the processes that should be implemented to manage the platform. You will be responsible for designing the implementation of their DevOps toolset and delivering on these designs and  you will be familiar with working using a Microsoft DevOps backlog, and self-organising to demonstrate progress of allocated work items.

Technical Expertise:

Deep understanding of the DevOps challenges faced by a SaaS software company and the tools and processes which can be put in place to effectively manage this.
Expertise in the use of infrastructure-as-code to deploy and configure Microsoft Azure based SaaS solutions. Experience in the use of Pulumi would be an ideal, other toolsets such as Bicep or Terraform would be an advantage.
Expertise in automation using Azure DevOps Pipelines, Azure CLI and PowerShell to drive the deployment of software, infrastructure, and PaaS services in Microsoft Azure.
Expertise in Microsoft Azure, particularly in the DevOps required for solutions which use PaaS services and containers. Experience transitioning from an IaaS to PaaS architecture would be ideal.
Experience with Entra. RBAC (role based access), Managed Identities and Zero-Trust. A Microsoft SC-900 certification would be an advantage.
Experience with Open Telemetry and tooling that can consume, monitor and display this data
Knowledge of secure software architecture, automated scalability, considerations, and limitations.
Knowledge of secure networking and protection mechanisms.
Integrations with Office365 for DMS (Document Management System), Authentication and OAuth flows.
Technical Delivery:

Research and recommend tools and approaches to automate DevOps tasks
Develop and maintain the processes and tools required to effectively develop, deploy and operate the Company’s SaaS platform as they go through a period of growth and technology change.
Define the monitoring and alerting thresholds that will allow us to effectively scale and secure their platform.
Product design:

Identify opportunities where their application and features can be improved to allow for more effective scaling, monitoring and operation.
Continuous Improvement:

Demonstrate a continued improvement to overall DevOps Processes to a set of defined KPIs
Who you are

They are looking for a Lead DevOps Engineer to join the team and help further automate the deployment, scalability and monitoring of their product platform to meet the needs they have as a growing SaaS company.
In your current role you will have experience as a DevOps engineer, you will be familiar with infrastructure deployment and configuration, application deployment, scalability challenges and how all of this can be monitored holistically.
You have a view of what “good” looks like in this area and a vision for what “truly excellent” might be

If you’re excited by the challenge and having the freedom to shine, we’d be really interested in having a chat

You must be available to visit their Cheshire offices once a week, no sponsorship is available for this position
