Teaching Assistant

Location: Woolwich, London

Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, Long-term (until at least July 2025)

Salary: £90-100 per day, increasing after 12 weeks

About the Role: SANZA Teaching Agency is looking for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Woolwich. You will be working with a bright and motivated Year 6 student who is wheelchair-bound as well as providing classroom Teaching Assistant support. This rewarding, full-time position is based in a supportive and inclusive school in Woolwich, London, and will continue until at least July 2025.

Teaching Assistant Key Responsibilities:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will provide tailored support to a Year 6 child who uses a wheelchair, ensuring their educational and personal needs are met.
You will assist with classroom tasks, adapting resources and providing support to ensure full accessibility for the student as their 1:1 Teaching Assistant.
Your role will include supporting the child with physical movement around the school, ensuring their comfort and safety at all times
You will collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to implement the child's individual learning plan, using your expertise as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide bespoke support.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will ensure the child can fully participate in all activities, working to create an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for their development.

Key Requirements:

Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, particularly with children who have physical disabilities or mobility challenges, is highly desirable.
A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students as their 1:1 Teaching Assistant.
Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCo, and other professionals to ensure the child's needs are met.
Relevant qualifications (such as NVQ/CACHE Level 2 in Childcare or SEN) are desirable but not essential.
A strong understanding of safeguarding practices and a commitment to creating a safe learning environment.
A flexible, caring, and attentive approach to your work as a Teaching Assistant.
