Key Responsibilities:

* Leadership & Staff Management: Lead, manage, and motivate the nursing and support staff within the ward. Supervise, support, and develop the team to ensure they provide high-quality care. Manage staff rotas, ensuring appropriate staffing levels and skill mix. Provide leadership and mentorship, ensuring staff professional development and well-being.

* Patient Care & Clinical Excellence: Oversee patient care, ensuring that care plans are developed and followed, with regular reviews and updates. Ensure that all nursing practices meet the highest standards of care, maintaining patient safety, dignity, and comfort. Monitor and evaluate patient outcomes, ensuring effective treatment delivery and a positive patient experience.

* Resource Management: Effectively manage ward resources, including staffing, equipment, and supplies, ensuring that the ward is adequately stocked and well-equipped to provide optimal patient care. Ensure that budgets are adhered to and that resources are used efficiently.

* Quality & Safety Compliance: Ensure that clinical governance standards, infection control, health and safety regulations, and hospital policies are followed. Actively participate in audits, inspections, and reviews to improve the quality of care. Monitor and address any clinical incidents or complaints, ensuring thorough investigations and follow-up actions.

* Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including medical staff, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Lead ward rounds and contribute to patient discharge planning, as appropriate.

* Leadership in Patient Flow & Admission/Discharge Processes: Oversee patient flow within the ward, ensuring efficient admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Act as a point of escalation for any patient care concerns, ensuring timely resolution.

* Policy Implementation & Development: Support the implementation of new clinical guidelines, policies, and procedures, ensuring that staff are trained and updated accordingly. Contribute to the development of policies and quality initiatives that improve ward practices.

* Staff Training & Development: Promote a culture of continuous professional development. Support and mentor staff through clinical supervision, appraisals, and training. Ensure that staff meet mandatory training requirements and that learning opportunities are available.

* Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, ensuring that their voices are heard, and their needs are met. Address any concerns or issues raised by patients or families promptly and professionally
