The role of Deputy Matron in the paediatric ward is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an experienced nurse to take on a leadership position. As part of Sophie Bell and Associates, we are looking for a skilled professional to manage the day-to-day operational management of the ward, ensuring that it remains safe, effective, and aligned with our organisation's values and mission.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Ward Management: The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the ward and its staff, including clinical nurse specialists, to deliver high-quality care to children and their families.
  2. Leadership: Provide strong leadership to the team, ensuring senior clinical presence on the ward and driving quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
  3. Change Agent: Act as a change agent and innovator, promoting an effective change culture within nursing teams and working with the Modern Matron to implement changes that improve patient outcomes.
  4. Financial Management: Work closely with the Matron to manage the financial aspects of the service, ensuring that budgets are adhered to while delivering high-quality care.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in paediatrics, a teaching or assessing qualification, and a management qualification or working towards one. They must also be able to demonstrate significant clinical experience in medical areas and the ability to function at the required level.

We estimate that this role will pay around £65,000 - £85,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
