About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

This permanent role involves working within a team to address anti-social behaviour (ASB) in a designated area of the Borough. The officer will handle a caseload of complex ASB cases, requiring a multi-agency approach and various ASB interventions. Responsibilities include collaborating with the legal team to progress cases in civil and criminal courts, gathering evidence, and presenting cases. The officer will conduct thorough investigations to resolve ASB complaints through legal and low-level interventions and will work with Police, tenancy services, and other partners to ensure efficient case management. Strong partnerships are key to fostering a proactive, equitable approach to tackling ASB in the community.

Working for Haringey

At Haringey Council we are committed to creating a workplace culture where all our people feel valued, included, and able to be their best at work, and we recognise the benefits of a diverse workforce so welcome applications from all ethnicities and communities so that we continue to make a difference to our residents and community.  Our benefits package includes a leave entitlement of 31 days + bank holidays, potential hybrid working opportunities, health and wellbeing support, a generous local government pension scheme and a range of discount schemes across leisure and culture that provide both financial and money-saving discounts.

About you

You will need to be an effective communicator with excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, adopting a pragmatic and flexible approach to all aspects of your work. Strong motivational skills, coupled with a genuine passion for making a difference, are essential. A comprehensive understanding of the range of enforcement powers and relevant legislation is required, along with experience in an investigative setting and casework management. Knowledge of Haringey Housing and other Borough services, as well as familiarity with the Northgate database system and SharePoint, would be advantageous for a smooth transition into the role but are not essential. Excellent IT and analytical skills are also crucial components of this position.

About the team

We are a small but high-performing team that works collaboratively with a range of internal and external services. ASB Enforcement Officers work in pairs to cover localities comprising four or more wards, conducting investigations into high-level anti-social behaviour. This involves responding to individual reports and engaging in partnership work to address hotspots. Our team is united by a common goal of finding effective solutions and making a real difference for the people of Haringey. We value dependability, expecting team members to be reliable and supportive. Flexibility and adaptability are essential, as team members may be asked to cover absences, address capacity issues, and take on additional tasks to benefit the team. We foster a proactive, innovative, and inclusive environment to ensure an effective response in a challenging, dynamic setting
