About Us

The **Peak District National Park Authority **protects, enhances and shares the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage of the Peak District. We also support the economic and social wellbeing of the communities in which we work.

As the UK’s first National Park, the Peak District has a rich history and has been shaped by the interaction of people and nature over thousands of years. The Park is enjoyed by millions each year looking for adventure, knowledge and a fantastic day out.

We’re currently looking for a full-time** Minerals Planner** to join us on a permanent basis. It is an exciting time to join the National Park as we are currently investing in our Planning Service to create a structure that encourages development and provides an opportunity for us to grow our leaders of the future.

What’s more, we are based between Manchester, Sheffield and Derby, making this the ideal opportunity to break away from city life and commute to the country.

The Benefits
- Local government pension scheme
- Flexible working
- Free on-site parking
- Work from offices based in the heart of the National Park
- Benefit from stunning surroundings and views on a daily basis
- Hybrid working arrangements

The Role

The post holder may also have the opportunity to contribute to Mineral Policy formulation during the review of the Authority’s Local Plan which is currently underway and to contribute to regional mineral supply strategy as part of the Regional Aggregates Working Party. You will also engage with members of the public and other stakeholders to advise them in relation to Minerals matters and may attend community liaison meetings to facilitate a dialogue and working relationship between operators and the community.

A further aspect of the role will be the monitoring of compliance with planning conditions at existing Mineral sites to ensure adverse impacts are suitably controlled and that sites are restored in accordance with approved restoration plans and to a quality befitting the National Park location. The post holder will also be required to investigate breaches of planning control, often relating to the unauthorised deposit of waste in various locations across the Park. It will be necessary to conduct site visits, collect evidence and take the appropriate enforcement action when it is expedient to do so in order to preserve the special landscape.

About You

Experience working in a local government planning authority or the private sector in a minerals/waste, development management or enforcement role would be highly beneficial. To be successful in gaining appointment to this post you will need to demonstrate attention to detail, quality report writing skills, the ability to make balanced judgements and a willingness to adopt a pragmatic approach in order to achieve the purposes of the National Park.

RTPI membership would be desirable as would experience of minerals site surveys.
