Night Support Worker

Central is currently recruiting for a Permanent Night Support Worker, to work in the Camden area. The all-male hostel provides temporary accommodation and support for single homeless men with a broad range of support needs, including substance misuse, mental ill-health and those under MAPPA.
The successful candidate will be required to work 43.5 hours per week, working across Monday – Sunday on a rota basis, covering waking night shifts between 7:45PM – 8:15AM. This is a permanent role. The pay rate for this role is £31,328 per annum.
In this position, you will be expected to;
* Carry out security checks and regularly visit all parts of the building, including the external perimeter, throughout the night
* Carry out regular welfare checks
* Provide appropriate support for residents and deal with emergencies as they occur and record as appropriate
* Supervise residents’ conduct, health, hygiene, safety and welfare, while maintaining a flexible and sensitive approach to residents as individuals
* Provide support for residents in crisis.
* Ensure the fabric of the building is maintained and that any defects are reported
* Record all contacts using Salesforce
* Provide medium to high support for residents with substance misuse, mental health and offending history
* Participate in handovers with the day staff at the start and end of each shift
* Carry out administrative procedures as required, including acting upon day book entries and recording incidents or accidents in appropriate places
* Clean areas of the hostel as required
* Implement Health & Safety Policies and Procedures with special attention to fire and emergency evacuation procedures
To apply for this role, you must have;
* Experience of working in supported housing
* Knowledge and understanding of the complex needs and support requirements of vulnerable clients including those with mental health and/or substance dependencies issues.
* Experience in dealing positively and innovatively with clients exhibiting challenging behaviour
* Experience of developing and nurturing effective working relationships with statutory and voluntary agencies
* Experience in identification and assessment of risk
* The ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload and to meet deadlines
* Knowledge of current housing legislation, welfare benefits legislation and other matters relevant to the successful support of clients
* Knowledge and understanding of good practice in housing management
* Knowledge and understanding of how to use IT and Microsoft Office applications

In order to register with Central Recruitment Services for temporary agency work, candidates must meet the following criteria:
* Current valid right to work in the UK
* Minimum 12 months’ of paid experience in a front line social care role within the last 3 years* (unless recruitment criteria states otherwise)
* A fully enhanced DBS either registered on the DBS update service or issued within the last 12 months, or willingness to apply for one through Central (at a cost of £50)
* Employment or education history to cover the last 5 years which can be verified through the referencing process
