Hestia's Mental Health Integrated Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Team work within the NHS' Community Mental Health Team (CMHT).  We help people to connect with what is meaningful to them and provide therapeutic, trauma-informed support. We work closely with the community to improve access to mental health services, develop local resources, and address health inequalities. 

A day in the role looks like...

As a Community Engagement Practitioner you will play a crucial role in providing Service Users (SU) with non-clinical support as a part of a multidisciplinary team (MDT). Your contributions will directly influence the mental health recovery and improvement of quality of life of SU, guiding them towards a path of empowerment and independence.

One day will never look the same and some of the things you can expect to be responsible for are:

Providing high quality support as a Keyperson to adult SU with moderate to severe mental health difficulties within the community

Working collaboratively alongside other CMHT's professionals and SU's to produce a recovery plan and lead on co-produced formulation of community/social needs

Assessment and management of client care needs through Dialog +, crisis plans, monitoring of SU's progress and reports in care reviews with the MDT team

Outreach work within the local community, networking with grassroots and statutory services and connecting clients to local resources

Supporting SU's in discharge planning from CMHT and building sustainable networks in the community

Facilitate and co-deliver psychoeducation and other wellbeing activities/peer groups where possible

Understanding of the issues and concerns of mental health service users

Understanding and practical knowledge of recovery, and coproduction

Experience of working autonomously, and in a team or a group environment

Experience of liaising with other agencies and partners

Awareness of treatment outcomes, recovery tools, care planning, assessment of risk

Awareness and understanding of the functions of MDT

Knowledge and understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983 amended 2007

Previous experience in similar roles such as Support Worker, Mental Health Worker or Keyworker would be an advantage.
