Responsibilities:
* Deliver safe, high-quality care for patients during their perioperative phase of care.
* Support and assist in the management and organisation of care provision within the Operating Department.
* Lead and manage a team, coordinating staff training needs and resource requirements within a peri-operative function or surgical specialty.
* Assist in the delivery of patient care, contribute to quality improvement, and promote best evidence-based practices within your scope.
* Develop and enhance the skills and knowledge of others and yourself.
* Apply legislation, policies, and procedures correctly, maintaining knowledge of Health and Safety regulations to ensure the safety of patients, relatives, visitors, staff, and contractors.
* Assemble, check, and prepare the appropriate surgical equipment, instruments, and consumables for a wide range of operative procedures.
Requirements:
* Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in coordination, ordering, first assistant duties, mentoring, and leadership within a perioperative setting.
* First surgical assistant certificate.
* Additional skills in recovery and anaesthetics.
* ILS certification.
* Mentorship qualification.
* Proficient in the use of a PC, including software and systems.
* Experience in customer care, including interacting with customers in challenging situations.
* Experience as a Scrub Nurse with expertise in ENT, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, and Neuro is preferred.
* Maths and English GCSE at grades A to C or equivalent functional skills level 2 evidence.
