Job Summary:
The Team Leader - Surgical Assessment Unit will be responsible for leading a team of nurses and healthcare professionals in the Surgical Assessment Unit. The successful candidate will have excellent clinical leadership skills and experience in managing a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Expert Clinical Leadership: The Team Leader will be responsible for providing expert clinical leadership to the team, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care and that the unit runs smoothly.
- Develop and Promote Nursing Practice: The Team Leader will work closely with the Ward Manager to develop and promote nursing practice and competence within the unit.
- Assessment and Planning: The Team Leader will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of programs of care in line with research-based evidence, for individuals and groups of patients.
- Documentation and Record Keeping: The Team Leader will ensure accurate documentation and record keeping, teaching and supporting all members of the ward team in this area.
- Discharge Planning: In the absence of the Ward Manager, the Team Leader will be responsible for the ongoing facilitation of timely discharge of patients to primary care settings, ensuring suitable ongoing care arrangements, and effective use of inpatient beds.
- Patient Communication: The Team Leader will provide information to patients and relatives in a sensitive manner, and support them when distressed or bereaved.
- Teamwork and Communication: The Team Leader will promote effective multidisciplinary teamwork, through good communication with all staff.
- Implementation of Trust Objectives: The Team Leader will actively assist the ward manager in implementing Trust objectives/initiatives, taking a lead in the clinical area as required.
- Staff Development: The Team Leader will participate in the recruitment, selection, development, and retention of staff.

Requirements:
