Junior Estimating Specialist

About the Job:
We are looking for a talented Junior Estimator/Tender Engineer to join our team based in Kilmarnock. This is a permanent role that offers a great opportunity to develop your skills and career.
Key Responsibilities:
- Estimate Preparation: Assist in preparing estimates from first principles using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite tools.
- Technical Documentation: Interpret technical drawings and specifications to identify project requirements and understand the scope of work.
- Material Requirements: Perform quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
- Subcontractor Collaboration: Collaborate with subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
- Document Control: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimating activities, including records of assumptions, methodologies, quotations, and tender queries.
- Teamwork: Work closely with estimators, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements, resolve issues, and ensure alignment between estimated costs and project scope.
Essential Requirements:
- Education: A HND in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings.
- Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering collaboration and building positive relationships with colleagues and project stakeholders.
- Driving License: Essential for this role.
Benefits:
The salary for this position is £28,000 - £38,000 per annum, plus vehicle, bonus, and additional benefits.
