Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Junior Estimator/Tender Engineer to join our team in Kilmarnock. As a key member of our pre-construction phase, you will support the estimating team by providing essential services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation: Assist in the preparation of estimates from first principles using estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite tools.
  • Technical Analysis: Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications to identify project requirements and understand the scope of work.
  • Quantity Take-offs: Perform quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings to determine material, labor, and equipment requirements.
  • Subcontractor Enquiries: Collaborate with subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, ensuring cost-effective and timely delivery.
  • Document Control: Prepare and maintain accurate documentation of estimating activities, including records of assumptions, methodologies, quotations, and tender queries.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with estimators, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project requirements, resolve issues, and ensure alignment between estimated costs and project scope.

Requirements:

  • Education: A HND in Civil Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to interpret complex project specifications and drawings.
  • Time Management: Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment, fostering collaboration and building positive relationships with colleagues and project stakeholders.
  • Driving License: Essential for this role.

What We Offer:
