Locum Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team as a Primary Care Liaison Psychiatrist. This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Primary Care Mental Health Service and contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health care to patients in the North West of Hertfordshire.
Main DutiesThe successful candidate will provide specialist consultative liaison to Primary Care based staff for advice and guidance on mental health matters. They will also provide one-off mental health diagnostic assessments and medication management as needed. The post-holder will work closely with GPs and primary care mental health practitioners to ensure seamless care coordination and communication.
About the RoleThis is a fixed-term 12-month appointment working 5 programmed activities per week. The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring clinical outcomes are clearly shared with GPs via the primary care electronic clinical record. They will also generate letters and provide additional support to primary and specialist care multi-disciplinary teams regarding diagnoses, risk formulation, and medications.
Person SpecificationWe are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with excellent knowledge in the specialty. The ideal candidate will have excellent oral and written communication skills in English, be able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty, and make decisions based on evidence and experience. They will also be able to meet duties under the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
