Locum Consultant Psychiatrist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team as a Locum Consultant Psychiatrist - Primary Care Liaison. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with our Primary Care Mental Health Service and contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health care to patients in the North West of Hertfordshire.
About the RoleThe post-holder will provide specialist consultative liaison to Primary Care based staff for advice and guidance on mental health matters. This will involve working closely with GPs and Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners to provide clinical guidance and support. The post-holder will also be responsible for providing additional support to the Primary and Specialist Care Multi-Disciplinary Teams regarding diagnoses, risk formulation, and medications.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist consultative liaison to Primary Care based staff for advice and guidance on mental health matters.
- Work closely with GPs and Primary Care Mental Health Practitioners to provide clinical guidance and support.
- Provide additional support to the Primary and Specialist Care Multi-Disciplinary Teams regarding diagnoses, risk formulation, and medications.
- Ensure clinical outcomes are clearly shared with the GP via primary care Electronic Clinical Record (ECR).
- Generate letters and reports as required to support patient care.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with excellent knowledge and experience in mental health, particularly in the area of Primary Care Mental Health. The ideal candidate will have:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- MRCPsych or equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Able to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience.
