We are seeking a highly experienced Radiological Safety Specialist to join our team at TQR in Plymouth. As a key member of our Steriliser Business Team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our Cobalt 60 steriliser.

About the Role

">
  • You will be responsible for managing regulatory requirements, licensing, and permits associated with the steriliser's operation.
  • You will provide radiological safety expertise through liaison with our Radiation Protection Adviser and act as the Senior Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS).
  • You will support the team during external and internal audits, showcasing your expertise as a subject matter specialist.

Key Responsibilities

">
  • Determine and expedite Cobalt 60 needs to satisfy business requirements, including CB2s as necessary.
  • Conduct validation following source loads and support the export of returned Cobalt 60.
  • Investigate new and current industrial irradiator technology and dosimetry methods.
  • Provide engineering and technical support to the team.
  • Develop product cycle times and review operating procedures and relevant standards.
  • Maintain license and permit compliance associated with the steriliser's operation.
  • Perform dosimetry calibration/verification and analysis.
  • Collaborate with the iSALT corporate sterilisation team on operations, radiological, and validation matters.
  • Ensure strict radiological safety requirements, training, and procedures are upheld.
  • Share responsibility with sites RPSs for radiological safety systems, their correct operation, and effectiveness.
  • Report on engineering-related topics to Plant Management and members of the Steriliser Business Team.
  • Report on radiological-related topics to statutory bodies, Plant Management, Members of the Steriliser Business Team, Steriliser Technicians, and the Occupational Health team.
  • Provide mentoring to steriliser operational associates.

Requirements

">
  • A degree in Science or Engineering related discipline is required.
  • Minimum of five years experience working in a heavily regulated environment (preferably pharmaceutical).
  • Experience and ability in statistical analysis techniques.
  • Project management experience, leading activities.
  • Familiarity with relevant national and international standards relating to the position.
  • Excellent PC knowledge and capability.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 per annum
