Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Services Manager to join their team at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospitals. This challenging opportunity allows a Pharmacy Technician to develop their managerial and leadership skills in a busy acute hospital dispensary setting.

The successful candidate will support the implementation of agreed strategy changes, provide direct leadership and support to the team, and ensure delivery of change within set time scales. Technicians interested in this position must bring motivation, enthusiasm to promote new ideas, determination to succeed in a challenging environment, ability to remain calm under pressure, and commitment to future developments in pharmacy services.

Main duties of the job:

  • Assist the Team Leader for dispensary services with planning, development, monitoring, audit, evaluation, and delivery of the dispensary service across the trust, ensuring working practices meet requirements of medicines legislation, professional, local, and national guidelines.
  • Contribute to the strategic plan for dispensary operations, including change management projects and adopting new models of working, such as EPMA systems.
  • Provide professional leadership and management in all aspects of dispensary services for staff members, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians, trainee pharmacists, and support workers.
  • Ensure appropriate training is provided for all staff working in the dispensary and training records are maintained and available when required.
  • Assist with stock management and financial control of costs within the dispensary service, including maintaining staffing levels and reducing waste through avoidable expiration of medicine and use of resources.
  • Assist the Team Leader for dispensary services to manage the day-to-day running of the dispensary service and rotas.
  • Deputise for the Team Leader for dispensary services, providing technical leadership.
