Job Overview

Main Duties

As an Operating Department Healthcare Assistant, you will be a crucial part of the multidisciplinary team, assisting in the preparation of theatres and patients for surgery, as well as supporting the Theatre practitioners and surgical team during procedures. Your main duties will include:

  • Working as a member of the multidisciplinary team
  • Preparing equipment and the theatre environment for surgical lists
  • Collecting patients from ward areas, transferring, and positioning them for procedures
  • Providing physical and psychological support to patients
  • Assisting the surgical team with assigned tasks
  • Adhering to all departmental and Trust policies and procedures

Person Specification

We are looking for an individual who:

  • Has a Care Certificate or is able to work towards it
  • Is educated to GCSE level or equivalent

Desirable criteria include:

  • Interest in undertaking further training
  • Experience in a hospital or operating theatre setting
  • Previous experience in patient care
