Theatre Support Assistant - Orthopaedic
University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Theatre Support Assistant to join our Orthopaedic team. As a Theatre Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our theatres, providing exceptional patient care, and contributing to the success of our team.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain theatre equipment, ensuring it is in good working order and ready for use.
- Assist scrub nurses and operating department practitioners in preparing and laying up trolleys for operating lists.
- Provide individual handholding support to patients undergoing local anaesthesia, ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Monitor patients' conditions and report any changes to nursing staff and/or ODPs.
- Assist with cleaning tasks, errands, and general duties as required, including the removal of foul linen and cleaning up of body fluids.
- Act as a circulating theatre nurse for on-call evenings and weekends, providing support to the team as needed.

Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Evidence of working in a team environment.
- Good communication skills, with evidence of good maths and English skills.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience working in a healthcare setting.
- NVQ Level 2, 3, or equivalent experience.
