About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Information Governance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of staff delivering responses to requests made under Data Protection, Access to Health Records, and Freedom of Information Acts.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage the Information Governance Team, ensuring all requests for data are received centrally, recorded, and processed in line with Trust/Data Protection Act/GDPR, Access to Health Records Act (AHRA), and adhering to time limits.
  • Monitor IG Team standards and performance, providing monthly activity reports to the Information Governance Manager, and ensuring the Information Governance Team information resources are kept up to date.
  • Support the Senior IG Officer in coordinating the completion of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit external assessment, including identifying requirements, evidence, and gaps.
  • Contribute to the development of IG standards and codes of practice within the Corporate Governance Team and Trust-wide.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge, experience, and understanding of the Data Protection Act 2018, General Data Protection Regulation, Access to Health Records Act 1990, and Freedom of Information Act.

They will also have good IT skills, including Microsoft Windows, Word, and Excel, and be able to work effectively in a team environment.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 GCSEs, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent, and relevant qualifications in data protection and freedom of information.
