Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced professional to support the development and implementation of data standards within our organization. As a Data Standards Compliance Officer, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our data is accurate, complete, and consistent.

The successful candidate will have proven IT skills and experience of working with computer packages and databases. They will also have good knowledge of Data Protection, including Data Quality principles, and excellent communication skills.

The salary for this position is estimated to be £38,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and adhere to the Police Code of Ethics, ensuring force values and behavioral expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers, and staff in their decision-making and actions.
  • Proactively manage the performance, attendance, and wellbeing of police officers and police staff against required standards, ensuring they are dealt with and supported in accordance with correct policies and procedures.
  • Treat others with dignity, fairness, and respect at all times, regardless of identity, background, status, or circumstances, embracing and investing in West Yorkshire Police's approach and commitment to Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI).
  • Provide support and assistance to Records Management and MOPI (including Review, Retention and Disposal and Data Quality), ensuring compliance with Data Protection Act principles, APP, relevant standards and guidance, and best practice.
  • Supervise and support Data and Information Standards Officers in line with Force standards, ensuring work is of an appropriate quality, and statutory and agreed timescales are met.
  • Act as a single point of contact for Record Management and MOPI advice and guidance, ensuring appropriate standards and measures are communicated to force information users.
  • Identify process developments and training solutions to support continuous improvement and productivity, keeping comprehensive and up-to-date records, including Standards Operating Procedures and guidance documents.
  • Search force systems and conduct inquiries to gather information and data for the Data and Information Standards Manager, supporting the delivery of a Force wide Data Standards Programme.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven IT skills and experience of working with computer packages and databases.
  • Proven experience of searching, analyzing, and reviewing data.
  • Good knowledge of Data Protection, including Data Quality principles.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of delivering results in a customer-focused environment, ensuring customer satisfaction and deadlines are achieved.
  • Ability to make reliable and accurate decisions using the National Decision Model and Code of Ethics.
  • Prepared to work flexibly to support unit requirements, with ability and willingness to travel for business purposes.
