Position Summary

We are seeking a Lead/Principal Mechanical Engineer to provide expertise in the design and manufacture of our next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mechanical performance, suitability for manufacture, and overall mechanical safety of our products.
  • Lead a mechanical team to develop next-generation products.
  • Conduct mechanical design reviews and provide guidance to solve problems and keep project disciplines in focus.
  • Coach senior mechanical engineers to grow their skills and project responsibility.
  • Recruit student placements to grow the talent pool within the business.
  • Support the Technical Director on strategic technology developments.

Requirements

  • Ability to work in a matrix structure and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Finite Element Analysis and CAD software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to conceive and engineer complex mechanical systems.
  • Experience in identifying when external expertise is required.

Qualifications or Relevant Work Experience

  • Good degree-level education in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years' experience in a design lead/principal engineer role.
  • Sound knowledge of manufacturing engineering, materials, methods, processes, and quality systems.
