About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health problems, learning disabilities, and/or dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with service users, empowering them to identify their own goals and contribute to their care plans.
  • Support individuals to express their needs and wishes, and assist them with activities of daily living to promote independence and active participation.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with service users, families, and colleagues, using a range of communication methods to ensure understanding and empathy.
  • Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge, and contribute to the delivery of training to colleagues.
Person Specification

We are looking for an individual with:

  • Good knowledge and understanding of mental health problems, learning disabilities, and/or dementia.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive therapeutic relationships and demonstrate an understanding of Person-Centred Approaches and Values.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and listening skills, with the ability to empower others.
  • Understanding of the impact of stigma and discrimination, and the ability to value diversity.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (functional skills; ENIC).
  • Vocational qualification in health and social care (care certificate; level 2/3 diploma).
  • Experience of working with people with mental illness, learning disability, and/or dementia.
