About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with mental health problems, learning disabilities, and/or dementia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain positive therapeutic relationships with service users, empowering them to take control of their lives and make informed decisions about their care.
  • Support individuals to identify and achieve their goals, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of care plans, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless care delivery.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to service users, promoting a culture of dignity and respect.
  • Work flexibly to meet the needs of the service, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
Requirements
  • Good knowledge and understanding of mental health problems, learning disabilities, and/or dementia.
  • Ability to build and sustain positive therapeutic relationships and demonstrate an understanding of Person-Centred Approaches and Values.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and listening skills, with the ability to empower others.
  • Understanding of the impact of stigma and discrimination and the ability to value diversity.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Vocational qualification in health and social care (e.g., care certificate, level 2/3 diploma).
  • Experience of working with people with mental illness, learning disability, and/or dementia.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.
