Consultant Haematologist Position

This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Consultant Haematologist to join our team at Doncaster & Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS FT. As a key member of our Haematology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our services.
Main Duties- Provide continuing responsibility for Haematology Services in Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Trust.
- Share responsibility for diagnostic services with other Consultant Haematologists, including the day-to-day supervision of diagnostic tests and interpretation as required.
- Share responsibility for professional standards in the laboratory and ensure compliance with the standards required to satisfy UKAS Ltd.
- Share responsibility for the Clinical Haematology Service, including liaison with clinicians, other hospital staff, and General Practitioners, in the diagnosis and management of Haematological disorders.
- Participate with other Consultant Haematologists in the management of the Department.
- Demonstrate a firm commitment to Clinical Governance, including participation in effective Clinical Audit and continuing Medical Education.
- Contribute to management within the Trust through the appropriate Division.
- Participate in the multidisciplinary team meetings relevant to the post.
- Take joint responsibility for the professional supervision and development of training and non-training grade posts in the department.
- Participate in the system of consultant cover for annual, study, and professional leave.
- Maintain good communication with all members of the multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure good communication with GP and other agencies such as Palliative Care Services.
- Be involved in clinical trials, work, and coordination.
- Ensure mandatory training is up to date.
- Ensure own practice is up to date, including taking responsibility for own Clinical Professional Development.
- Comply with all relevant trust policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- MRCP or equivalent.
- You must be on the specialist register for Haematology or within 6 months of being admitted to the register for trainees, if currently in a training programme in the UK. In accordance with the regulations, all other categories of Doctors must be eligible to be on the GMC specialist register (evidence required prior to commencement) to be considered for a consultant appointment by the Advisory Appointments Committee.
- Applicants must continue to hold a Licence to Practise.
Experience
- Must be able to demonstrate a high level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of Haematology.
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the specialty.
- Understanding current issues within Haematology and the future direction of the specialty.
- Understanding current issues within the wider NHS.
- Shows ability to work with and lead others across professions.
Teaching
- Experience of and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non-medical staff.
Audit and Research
- Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects and the implementation of outcomes.
Practical/Intellectual Skills/Personal Qualities
- Ability to use IT Systems - inc Word, Excel, PowerPoint Outlook.
- Evidence of innovation.
General
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
- Ability to work in various locations throughout the network of services provided by Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust.
- An enhanced DBS disclosure will be required.
