About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Commercial Risk Analyst to join our team at National Grid. As a key member of our Commercial Risk Management team, you will play a critical role in developing and owning key business-as-usual (BAU) calculations, producing analytics to aid decision-making, and monitoring our commercial risk exposure.

This is an exciting opportunity to work with a talented team of professionals who are passionate about building a cleaner, greener energy system. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from developing and implementing commercial risk management frameworks to supporting the development of business cases for new initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and own key BAU calculations, including financial results, commercial opportunities, risk, and performance metrics.
  • Work with other team members to gather requirements, develop, and maintain reports and dashboards using SQL and Power BI.
  • Perform ad-hoc analytic requests and support the development of business cases for new initiatives.
  • Support the development, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of commercial risk management frameworks and corresponding processes and controls.
About You
  • Proficiency in SQL, Power BI, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience of handling significant quantities of data, knowledge of data handling techniques, and experience of using databases and data mining.
  • Experience of developing, implementing, running, and maintaining complex SQL calculations to meet business requirements.
  • Experience of building reports and producing analytics in Power BI.
  • Experience of working with internal stakeholders and project partners.
  • Desirable experience of working in commercial risk and developing and monitoring processes and controls.
  • Desirable knowledge of interconnector business models and sources of revenue.
  • Desirable knowledge of GB and EU electricity industry structures, policies, and regulations, market fundamentals, and recent trends.
What You'll Get

A competitive salary between £41,000 - £52,000, dependent on capability, plus a bonus based on personal and company performance, and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
