About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team at a specialist day school for boys with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH) as well as autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in their learning, both in and out of the classroom, to promote academic and personal growth.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality educational and therapeutic support, ensuring a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help manage challenging behaviors in a calm and consistent manner, using effective strategies to promote student well-being.
  • Assist in the creation of a positive learning environment that promotes personal development, encouraging students to achieve their goals.
  • Contribute to student assessments, progress tracking, and feedback for parents/carers, ensuring open communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Experience working with children with SEMH, ASD, or special educational needs (SEN) is preferred but not essential.
  • A caring, patient, and empathetic attitude, with strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with a flexible and proactive approach to supporting students in a variety of learning situations.
