About This Role
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Acute Medicine Specialist to join our established team. As an Acute Medicine Specialist, you will be responsible for providing direct input into patient care, ensuring maximal ambulatory management, and contributing to multidisciplinary teams.
Job Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality patient care in Acute Medicine units across both Royal Preston hospital and Chorley hospital
- Develop and implement effective strategies to reduce patient length of stay in acute beds
- Teach, train, and supervise medical students and postgraduate doctors in training
- Promote high professional standards of clinical care through continuing professional development
- Establish strong relationships with General Practitioners, primary care colleagues, and community services
About Our Department
The department of Acute Medicine at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust comprises a medical admissions unit (MAU or ward 19) at Royal Preston Hospital and one at Chorley & South Ribble Hospital. We offer a range of in-reach services from various specialties, including Nephrology, Neurology, Palliative Care, Cardiology, Respiratory, Acute Oncology, and Elderly Care.

Person Specification
Essential
- Fully registered with the GMC
- MBBS or equivalent qualification
- MRCP
- CCT in Acute Medicine, entered on the Specialist Register (or entry within 6 months)
Desirable
- Specialty Certificate Examination in Acute Medicine (MRCP Acute Medicine)
- Trained Clinical & Educational Supervisor
Salary Information
The estimated salary for this role is £93,000-£113,000 per annum, depending on experience.
