Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our team, supporting deaf and deafblind individuals with additional needs, such as learning disabilities or mental health challenges. As a Deaf Support Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing one-to-one and group support, using specialist communication systems like Makaton or British Sign Language (BSL).

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide daily living support, including assistance with personal care, medication management, and meal preparation.
  • Engage individuals in activities that promote independence, social interaction, and community participation.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • Bronze level British Sign Language (BSL) qualification or equivalent.
  • A positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A full driving license and access to a car (due to travel requirements).
