Paediatric Occupational Therapist Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist to join our team in County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality assessment and intervention programs to children and young people with a wide range of needs. This is a 12-month fixed-term post covering maternity leave.
The ideal candidate will have specialist level experience in a community paediatric setting, with knowledge of assessment and treatment approaches in paediatrics, developmental and neurological impairment. They will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a multi-agency team.
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities- To provide skilled assessments and interventions for children and young people with diverse or complex presentations/multi-pathologies.
- To manage caseloads and allocate tasks to assistant staff, ensuring that service priorities are met.
- To communicate effectively with children, young people, parents, carers, and other professionals, using verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
- To maintain comprehensive contemporaneous clinical and statistical records, in line with professional and service standards.
- Diploma, BSc or MSc in Occupational Therapy.
- Specialist postgraduate training linked to this field of clinical practice, such as Paediatric Assessment and Interventions, Social Care Assessment, Sensory Interventions, Learning Disabilities.
- At least 2 years' experience in a community paediatric setting, with a focus on assessing and intervening with children with complex needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a multi-agency team.
