Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist Assistant to join our team in supporting vulnerable adults in their daily lives. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing an independent caseload, assessing individuals with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, mental ill health, and learning disabilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage an independent caseload, assessing individuals with physical disabilities, sensory impairment, mental ill health, and learning disabilities.
  • Take specific responsibility for the provision of appropriate equipment, minor and major adaptations, and assistive technology.
  • Plan and implement reablement programs to support individuals in achieving their goals.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the role of an occupational therapist in a community setting.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of disability issues.
  • Ability to communicate and engage successfully with citizens and their family/carers.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multi-skilled team.
  • Ability to manage own time and workload.
  • Ability to communicate successfully within the organisation and with a range of external organisations.
  • Ability to record work in a timely manner, prepare reports as required, and maintain clear and concise case notes.
  • Basic IT skills as required within the context of this role.
  • Commitment to learning and development.
  • Awareness of health and safety issues.
  • Ability to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice/information in accurate spoken English.

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of vulnerable adults and their family/carers.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the concept of personalisation and self-directed support.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of person-centred support planning and the importance of reablement.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of the range of available resources to support citizens to maintain their independence.
  • Understanding of the importance of signposting to universal services.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the need to respond proactively to customer feedback.
  • Demonstrate a broad understanding of the Core Principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
  • Demonstrate sound knowledge and understanding of the Care Act 2014.
