About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of yard staff, overseeing daily delivery activities, and ensuring timely delivery of goods to our customers. You will also be responsible for maintaining records of lorries and forklifts on site, keeping company vehicles in good condition, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage yard staff in their daily duties, providing guidance and support as needed
  2. Schedule daily delivery routes and load deliveries onto vehicles
  3. Pick orders for next day delivery, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
  4. Maintain up-to-date records of lorries and forklifts on site, including regular checks and maintenance
  5. Ensure all company vehicles meet required standards for road worthiness and safety
  6. Maintain a safe and organized yard and warehouse environment
  7. Collaborate with drivers and yard staff to implement our customer service policy
  8. Report any health and safety issues to the branch manager

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Knowledge and experience of building materials, preferably in a yard or warehouse environment
  • Experience driving forklifts and operating heavy machinery
  • A full clean driving license is essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive can-do attitude and ability to work independently
  • Basic computer literacy and proficiency in using software applications
