Amy Woodgate House is a specialist resource centre for older adults with dementia, providing a home-from-home environment for 40 permanent and 4 short stay residents. Our 44-bedded Residential Care Home in Chessington offers a unique and supportive living space, divided into four living units with en-suite facilities.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Deputy Home Manager to join our team at Amy Woodgate House. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day care of residents, delegating roles to nursing and care staff as appropriate. You will also provide clinical supervision to Registered Nurses, ensuring they have the necessary clinical competencies to meet the needs of residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day care of residents, delegating roles to nursing and care staff as necessary
  • Provide clinical supervision to Registered Nurses, ensuring they have the necessary clinical competencies
  • Act as a Shift Team Leader, providing overall supervision and development for care staff
  • Contribute to the training of care staff and other staff, acting as a role model at all times
  • Monitor, audit, and review the service, taking corrective action where necessary
  • Demonstrate high professional standards and leadership, maintaining relevant professional memberships
  • Assist the Home Manager with formal supervision and appraisal of staff members, ensuring consistently high standards
  • Implement and adhere to Gold Care's policies and procedures, legal requirements, and relevant codes of practice
  • Assist with effective recruitment, performance management, and deployment of staff to deliver high-quality care and support outcomes
  • Liaise with maintenance contractors and others involved in the maintenance of property, plant, and equipment
  • Promote the service and Gold Care through effective communication with other organisations, stakeholders, and the local community
Person Specification
  • Excellent understanding of regulatory responsibilities of a Deputy Manager
  • Excellent understanding of principles of high-quality, person-centred care and support
  • Ability to negotiate and manage a budget
  • Knowledge and use of clinical assessment tools
  • Experience of leading a shift and working in the care home environment
  • Experience of working with individuals with dementia
