We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Court of Protection Costs Draftsman to join our team at Douglas Scott Legal Recruitment. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate Bills of Costs for Deputyship Applications, General Management, Statutory Will Applications, Gift Applications, and other matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing detailed and accurate Bills of Costs for Deputyship Applications, General Management, Statutory Will Applications, Gift Applications, and other matters.
  • Providing expert advice on the potential outcome at provisional assessment and how clients can maximise their recovery.
  • Dealing with the process of the provisional assessment of the Bills by the SCCO, including the use of HMCTS E-Filing service and the completion of all necessary Court forms.
  • Providing advice to clients on the outcome of provisional assessments and whether there are any grounds to appeal.
  • Preparing informal, written, requests for reconsideration of provisional assessments and requesting oral hearings if necessary.
  • Staying up-to-date with developments in the Court of Protection and at the SCCO, and keeping abreast of relevant rules, regulations, and guidance.
  • Attending internal and external training sessions, conferences, and seminars as required.
  • Maintaining and developing strong relationships with clients, providing ongoing costs advice, and delivering exceptional levels of client care.
  • Managing your own caseload to a high standard and in a timely manner.
