Clinical Practice Leadership Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Manager to join our team as a clinical practice leader, driving strategic objectives through diverse nursing workforce improvement projects. The postholder will work closely with the Clinical Practice Team to provide subject matter expertise in supporting NHS-wide nursing workforce improvement programmes, with a focus on community nursing initiatives.

The successful candidate will oversee the tracking of progress against plans and transition milestones, ensuring effective processes are in place to flag issues, risks, and concerns. As a clinical practice leader, the post holder will:

  • Facilitate local solutions with NHS providers to support the drive to improve clinical practice, prioritizing areas that require most attention.
  • Identify key local priorities for NHS England in relation to nursing practice, collaborating with stakeholders to develop effective strategies.
  • Support the Assistant Director of Clinical Practice to manage and deliver workforce transformation programmes, including reporting on progress and identifying trusts in need of further support within the region.
  • Work closely with key stakeholders to share best practice approaches across the country in relation to workforce transformation.
  • Possess a track record of managing and resolving complex clinical practice issues in large organisations, working with senior trust leads to deliver workforce transformation programmes.
  • Possess experience of working with senior officials in government/civil service organisations to coordinate delivery of policy and/or regulatory programmes.
  • Support the Director of Nursing for System & Professional Development to successfully achieve delivery of the CNO National Nurse Manifesto.
About Us

NHS England's purpose is to lead the NHS in England to deliver high-quality services for all. We aim to achieve this by:

  • Enabling local systems and providers to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities.
  • Making the NHS a great place to work, where staff can make a difference and achieve their potential.
  • Working collaboratively to ensure our healthcare workforce has the necessary skills, knowledge, values, and behaviours to deliver accessible, compassionate care.
  • Optimising the use of digital technology, research, and innovation.

A competitive salary of £50,000 - £65,000 per year, depending on experience, is available for this position. Additionally, colleagues with a contractual office base are expected to spend at least 40% of their time working in-person. Staff recruited from outside the NHS will usually be appointed at the bottom of the pay band. NHS England holds a Sponsor Licence, which may enable sponsorship for eligible candidates.
