Job Overview
The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is committed to providing a range of systemic evaluations and therapeutic interventions tailored for children, adolescents, and their families. We are currently seeking to recruit two skilled Senior Family and Systemic Psychotherapists for our CAMHS services.
By joining our organization, you will become part of a well-established community of Systemic Family Therapists (SFTs) and Systemic Family Practitioners (SFPs). Membership in this network offers:
- A robust supervision framework
- Regular quarterly meetings for the Manchester SFT and SFP community
- Opportunities for educational and training initiatives
- Collaboration and supervision with professionals from diverse backgrounds
- Connections with the Manchester division of the AFT (Association for Family Therapy)
We are looking for candidates who are both confident and skilled in working autonomously as well as collaboratively, providing systemically informed consultation and supervision. We welcome applicants from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is recognized for its innovative and inclusive approach to mental health support, having achieved exceptional ratings in quality assessments. We ensure comprehensive onboarding for all new staff and promote leadership at all levels within our teams. Working in Manchester provides numerous advantages, including a vibrant cultural scene, sports, arts, and recreational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
In the capacity of Family Therapist, you will oversee a clinical caseload, engaging directly with individuals facing significant and persistent mental health challenges, often exacerbated by trauma, and who may be involved with multiple agencies and services. Your primary duties will include:
- Delivering systemic psychotherapy independently at a specialist level.
- Conducting thorough psychological and systemic evaluations of children, adolescents, and families, including risk assessments.
- Providing written and verbal systemic formulations to support evidence-based clinical interventions for complex cases.
- Implementing tailored care packages of specialized therapeutic interventions, utilizing a variety of systemic models.
- Offering expert one-on-one clinical consultations to fellow clinical staff regarding Family Therapy and Systemic Psychotherapy, assisting in formulation and care planning, and collaborating with team members in the delivery of individual and group programs.
- Providing guidance and consultancy to local teams and partner agencies, promoting the integration of informed systemic practices in their routine work.
- Supervising newly qualified systemic psychotherapists and trainees.
About the Organization

We set benchmarks that other Trusts aspire to achieve, offering extraordinary opportunities for professional growth.
We have also established a digitally enabled organization to enhance clinical quality, patient and staff experiences, operational effectiveness, and drive research and innovation through our Electronic Patient Record system.
We take pride in being a major academic Research Centre and Education provider, offering a strong infrastructure to support high-quality research initiatives. Furthermore, we are committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging, providing equal opportunities for career development that are fair, open, and transparent, while prioritizing the health and wellbeing of our staff.
Diversity Commitment
